Just past Del Mar, three coastal cities are bordered by mighty cliffs and the vast Pacific. Solana Beach, with a population of 13,000, occupies four square miles bordered by Del Mar to the south and Cardiff to the north; Rancho Santa Fe to the east, and to the west, of course, the ocean. Cedros Avenue has become a regional design district, attracting artists, designers, and buyers from all over Southern California. Heading north to Cardiff-by-the-Sea, which takes up justa few square miles of coastline, this lovely stretch of land offers a mountain-resort on the ocean. The little community squeezes in a few popular outdoor eateries, and its hillside homes offer enviable views. Up in Encinitas, the largest of the three cities, the world center for floriculture features Paul Eckes Poinsettia Ranch. Further inland, shopping, restaurants, retail, and technology businesses thrive. With its diverse blend of shops, galleries, restaurants, and beaches, the historical Highway 101 corridor from Solana Beach through Encinitas, brings lifestyle options for visitors and residents alike.
