This community is made up of "affordable" middle-class neighborhoods within the San Diego Unified School District. On the west side of the three communities are a concentration of business parks -- corporations such as Qualcomm, Alaris Medil, Mycogen, and Data Works sit beside smaller businesses, all of which employ thousands of professionals.
Mira Mesa features a mix of older houses with larger, newer homes; most of them were build in the '70s and '80s, with construction continuing today. Mira Mesa High School and its elementary schools rank in the 60th to 80th percentiles. About 23% of the area's residents over 25 have college educations. Miramar Community College offers low-cost courses ranging from two-year associate degrees to classes in the arts and computers.
